Financial Arrangements

The business office will contact you concerning financial arrangements prior to surgery to obtain all information needed to verify and process insurance benefits. Dayton Eye Surgery Center will notify you in advance of expected patient responsibility including any unmet deductible and coinsurance. The Center accepts cash, cashier's checks, patients' personal checks, Mastercard and Visa.

Prior To Your Surgery Day

Please read the following instructions carefully:

We will send you a packet of information that explains what we need you to bring with you the day of surgery.

Then a nurse will call you one or two days before your surgery to ask you some health questions and go over important pre-operative instructions. If you have any questions about your surgery after you've received your packet and have spoken to the nurse, you may call (937) 431-1518. For billing questions call 431-9531.

If your condition changes before surgery, notify your doctor or the Center. This may include catching a cold, or any other changes in health.

What to Bring With You and Do
  • Bring all insurance materials. These include insurance identification cards and forms. You should be prepared to pay any deductible and co-insurance on the day of surgery.

  • Bring personal photo ID such as a driver's license.

  • Bring a Power of Attorney document (If applicable).

  • Arrive at least one-and-a-half hours before the scheduled surgery. Your doctor will give you the exact time. This allows time for routine pre-operative preparations.

  • Wear loose comfortable clothing.

  • Leave jewelry and valuables at home.

  • Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery, unless otherwise instructed. You will receive instructions regarding your usual medications and which ones are to be taken the morning of surgery.

  • Anesthesia and medications will slow your reflexes and may make you feel drowsy. So, you MUST arrange for a ride home. DO NOT USE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION (i.e. BUSES, TAXIS, etc.)

Going Home

When it is time for you to be discharged, verbal and written instructions will be provided for your care at home. Because it is normal to feel dizzy and sleepy after surgery, a responsible adult must drive you home. One or two days after your surgery, a nurse will call you at home to check on your progress and answer any questions.

We hope you will be pleased with the service you receive and that you will have a quick and complete recovery. In the meantime, if you have questions about your progress, call your doctor or the Center.

After You Go Home

Take it easy. Plan to go home and rest for the remainder of the day. Your body needs time to recover from the stress of surgery. A friend or relative should be with you throughout the night.

Start eating slowly. Gradually resume normal activities. Follow specific instructions provided by the doctor regarding diet, exercise and resuming regular medication.

We offer a warm, personalized care setting that is convenient and efficient. We have created a family-friendly environment, with your comfort and safety in mind.
