Patients and partners should seek fertility treatment if they are under 35 years of age and have had regular intercourse without contraception for one year without success.
Patients and partners over 35 years of age should seek treatment after trying without success for six months.
Patients unable to carry pregnancies to term or have experienced multiple miscarriages may also seek help from Reproductive Endocrinologists.

 Fertility Testing
A series of tests and appointments may be ordered to aide diagnosis. This will usually include both partners as problems may exist with either partner. Female infertility may be caused by ovulation, tubal or uterine anatomy issues, endocrine problems or be unexplained. Male infertility may be related to sperm problems or unexplained.
A follow-up appointment is recommended with the doctor after fertility testing is completed to discuss results and treatment options.
 Treatment Options
Treatment option recommendations may range from simple monitoring techniques to advanced reproductive technologies. Surgical procedures of either partner may be recommended depending on fertility diagnosis. Drug therapies involving oral or injectable medicines may also be ordered. Intrauterine inseminations with either partner or donor sperm may be treatment options. Treatment for recurrent miscarriage may involve anticoagulant or steroid therapies.
