Fellows will care for a wide range of athletes including youth sports teams, high school athletes, Division One college teams and professional athletes. Fellows will also work with individuals involved in all areas of recreational and competitive athletics including golf, tennis, gymnastics, professional dance, etc.
Our program is accredited by the ACGME (American College of Graduate Medical Education) and its graduates are eligible to sit for the Certificate of Added Qualification exam administered in Primary Care Sports Medicine.
The sponsoring residency is the Wright State University integrated Emergency Medicine residency. Kettering Medical center also sponsors an Internal Medicine residency. A local Pediatric residency at Childrens' Medical center will have an institutional agreement with the fellowship.

 Curriculum
The fellow's main responsibilities are in the Sports Medicine center, which operates nine clinics per week to provide primary care sports medicine or orthopedic appointments.
The fellow will manage patients of their own in conjunction with attendings. Other responsibilities include supervision, stress testing and performance of individual and mass pre-participation physicals, and coverage of athletic events including high school football, collegiate men's and women's basketball, invitational soccer, softball and lacrosse tournaments, professional hockey, and professional football, among others.
Fellows are also involved in educational presentations, observing and assisting in orthopedic surgeries, and supervision of exercise testing.
Fellows are welcome at any Wright State University School of Medicine function, as well as at hospital lectures and events.
Fellows will be required to attend one national Sports Medicine Conference and publish an original article during their fellowship year.
The fellow's daily schedule is flexible and may be modified throughout the year as opportunities arise for other experiences.
Ten to twenty percent of the fellow's time will be spent, as required, in his or her specific specialty including such activities as: precepting residents; serving as an inpatient attending; attending in Primary Care, Student Health, or Emergency Departments; or other appropriate activities.
 Compensation
Salary and benefits for the fellow are equivalent to that for a third year resident at our institution.
Benefits will include personal and family health, dental insurance - at no additional cost; meals while on-duty; coats, parking and certain other services free of charge.
Fellows are allowed three weeks of vacation yearly, with five additional days allotted for educational leave.
Please review the residency brochure for more detail or bring questions to the interview.
